Irfan is currently an Assistant Director at Birmingham Children’s Services Trust. Prior to this post, Irfan was the Assistant Director for Children’s Services.
He is a Qualified Social Worker with over 10 years’ experience in the area of Children’s Services. Irfan’s strong experience as a leader within Children’s Services and a Child Protection Practitioner within statutory social work has placed him in a good position to have real and current operational experience which helps bring the reality of ‘working on the ground’ to the top. Irfan strives to create a culture where there is a high level of support but equally high level of challenge. Irfan firmly believes that social work practice should be based upon building good relationships and steeped in principles of family strengths, empowerment and inclusiveness.
Irfan has a good track record of partnership working and this can be evidenced through the successful implementation of Cardiff’s MASH arrangement, the implementation of a high impact multi-agency CSE strategy and much more besides. Irfan believes that all partnership initiatives require a strong ability to work and collaborate with partner agencies at all levels to achieve outstanding services and outcomes for the people we serve.
Irfan has a pragmatic and realistic approach. He is keen to improve services and has a passion to move things on to effect positive change.
Besides working full time, Irfan is a keen sports enthusiast and enjoys spending time with his family and climbing. In April 2017 he climbed to the summit of Kilimanjaro with friends for charity and in October 2018, he climbed up to Everest Base Camp.
